While scores for "structure and process [relating to managing trainees in difficulty]" are high across the UK, they are particularly high from GPEs in Severn. Severn also does well on: - ability to assess trainees - proportion of GPEs who have had appraisals - sharing knowledge and good practice (GPEs) - GPEs' awareness of their role
Our GPEs gave low scores for seeing their trainees as competent, median score 40. However, this compares to an even lower score of 31 given by GPEs nationally. Interestingly, our trainers gave a score of 72, so they are much happier with STs' competence than our GPEs Severn Trainers are close to being an outlier for having received formal training in the last 3 years in: - how to support trainees’ learning - workplace-based Assessment - how to give feedback to trainees - equality and Diversity Severn is an outlier for GPEs in "Actual vs Contracted Hours". Our GPEs report a large discrepancy between actual hours work done vs hours contracted to conduct educational activity. Our score of 86 (compared with a national average for GPEs of 53) indicates a high perception of uncontracted time spent on training by our GPEs. Michael Harris 31st August 2009
